Encounter with BAREN

――Please tell me how you came to know about BAREN.

It's on Instagram. While following other people's hair donation posts, an advertisement came up, and I felt that the scarf was stylish and became interested.

――How was BAREN's scarf hat?

BAREN's products are elegant and stylish, so I thought they would be naturally usable when shopping in Ginza or going to department stores in Nihonbashi.

From the first purchase to participating in the fitting event

――You participated in the fitting event before purchasing, didn't you?

Actually, I had purchased a bucket hat earlier. I usually don't wear hats much, but I thought it would be good to have at least one, so I chose a black bucket hat.

This bucket hat is good because it can be adjusted in size, unlike commercially available hats. It can be worn deeply and snugly, so it's reassuring even on windy days.

――How did you participate in the fitting event?

I registered as a friend on LINE, and since information is sent, I was checking online when I had free time. Actually, this month was supposed to be my first chemotherapy session, so I didn't know what symptoms would appear, and I hadn't originally applied.

But when I checked on Wednesday, I was able to enter my name, and even though it didn't work when I checked before, I was able to make a reservation by chance. I thought this was definitely a gift from God.

Temporary return home for treatment from living in Thailand

――Please tell me about your current situation.

I returned from Thailand and am currently receiving treatment alone. My husband is still in Thailand, but in the end, it was decided that he would come back here. Living alone for treatment is anxiety-inducing, but my husband is scheduled to come to Japan soon.

I return home once a year, and during that time, I always get a breast cancer screening. I was scared of breast cancer, so I always had the screening in December, and an abnormality was found during the December screening, which was confirmed to be cancer in January.

――It's good that it was detected early.

I was small, but I was the type that hormones didn't work on. Since hormones didn't work, chemotherapy was the only option. Although I was small, I was scared of recurrence, so it was decided that I should undergo proper treatment.

Discoveries from the fitting event

――How was your experience participating in the fitting event?

It was very nice to be able to talk with the staff about various things. The patterns and colors that I was considering purchasing online were completely different from what suited me in reality.

At first, I thought a navy polka dot one and a blue, more scarf-like summer style would be good, but when I actually tried them on, I found something that suited me completely differently.

――You had an unexpected discovery, didn't you?

What surprised me the most was being told that the yellow scarf hat, which I hadn't considered at all, suited me the best. Something I thought would absolutely not suit me turned out to be the best when I actually tried it on.

I was told that a cafe au lait color for bangs is good, and while I tend to choose brown, I realized that a slightly different tone is better than something too close to my current safe hair color.

Differentiating between medical wigs and scarf hats

――In what scenes do you differentiate between medical hats and wigs?

When shopping in Ginza or going to the department store in Nihonbashi, I would like to use BAREN's scarf hat. It is elegant and natural, so it feels appropriate in any place.

Bucket hats are convenient for everyday use and can be worn over medical wigs, expanding styling options.

Expectations for the future

――Do you have any expectations for BAREN in the future?

Since I am still a beginner, I think I will feel various things as I continue to use it. It would be nice to have an elegant pattern like a certain long-established brand's scarf. BAREN's products are elegant, so I think such luxurious designs would also suit them.

Message to readers

――Please give a message to those in similar situations.

I recommend not only viewing online but also participating in a fitting event. Colors and patterns that you wouldn't choose yourself often turn out to suit you best. The staff are also very supportive in giving advice, so I believe you will make new discoveries.
