Hello, this is Mayumi from BAREN.
When you are diagnosed with cancer, you are likely to worry about the disease, the treatment, and the money it will cost.
In addition to medical expenses, there are various other expenses such as transportation costs when going to the hospital and fees for a private room when hospitalized, but if hair loss occurs due to chemotherapy, medical wigs and care caps will be required.
Medical wigs and caps are not covered by health insurance.
Although it depends on the type of chemotherapy, hair loss usually begins 2 to 3 weeks after treatment begins.
It is recommended that you purchase a medical wig or care cap before treatment, as you will not have time to look for one after hair removal has been completed.

There are many different types of medical wigs and care caps, but some can be expensive and you may need to buy new ones to change the size when hair loss or growth occurs.
And even though medical wigs and preventative care are necessities when it comes to hair loss, they are not covered by medical expense deductions or health insurance.
An increasing number of local governments are introducing subsidy systems for medical wigs
In response to this situation, an increasing number of local governments are introducing subsidy systems to help those who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other reasons with the cost of purchasing wigs.
The recipients of the subsidies and the application requirements vary depending on the local government, so please be sure to inquire at your local government office.
If you purchase BAREN using the subsidy system
If you purchase BAREN using the subsidy program, you will need a receipt when you apply.
